Meet our Doctors

Dr. Timothy Sumner attended Virginia Tech for two years and then transferred to Medical College of Virginia of V.C.U. Pharmacy School where he graduated in 1974 with a B.S. Pharmacy degree.  After practicing pharmacy for three years, he enrolled in Medical College of Virginia of V.C.U. Dental School where he graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1981.   Dr. Sumner has practiced dentistry in and around the Northern Virginia area (mostly in Prince William County) since that time.  He is married to his wife, Jane, the former Information Technology Coordinator for Battlefield High School in Haymarket, Virginia, and current office manager of Sumner Family Dentistry.  They have two children.  Son Jonathan is a graduate of the University of Richmond and a former captain in the U.S. Army.  Daughter Lydia is a graduate of Virginia Tech and the Medical College of Virginia of V.C.U. (please see below for more detail).  The Sumners have resided in Manassas for over 30 years.  Dr. Sumner is an enthusiastic golfer in his spare time and enjoys wood-working and small building projects at home.

Dr. Lydia Sumner graduated magnu cum laude from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration as a Finance major.  She then attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Medical College of Virginia's School of Dentistry.  After graduating with her DDS degree, Dr. Lydia completed a one year post-doctoral residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Howard University's College of Dentistry in Washington, DC.  Dr. Lydia, her husband Justin, and their puppy Roxanne currently live in Gainesville, where they enjoy cheering on the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Washington Nationals.  Dr. Lydia is thrilled to return to the area to practice in Prince William County, where she was born and raised.
